June: Fruit and Veg in Season
What's the best fruit and veg to eat for good health?
Well, as with all questions nutrition, it depends! Firstly, because not everyone will be able to tolerate all different fruits and veg, but secondly, it depends on the season.
No one fruit or vegetable can give us all the of the nutrients we need, and even if they could - how boring would that be! To get all of the different vitamins and minerals we need, we have to eat a variety of different fruits and vegetables. A good way of ensuring we eat a range of fruits and veggies, whilst also eating the freshest produce around, is to eat seasonally.
Eating seasonally also means we're supporting local farmers, and saving a few dollars while we're at it. Below is a guide to what's in season in Australia this June.
Fruits:
Bananas
Citrus - grapefruit, lemons, limes, mandarins, oranges
Kiwifruit
